Welcome to Year 6!
I am Miss Ward and I am proud to be the year 6 class teacher.
Class 6 is a class where hard work, independence and resilience is a focus; as the children are prepared for the next stage of their learning journey. Although we work hard, there are lots of exciting experiences, laughter, love and smiles long the way.
Below is a link to our Spring Term overview which provides you with information about what the children will be learning this term.

We have been looking at Shakepeare’s Much Ado About Nothing and pupils really got into the roles of Beatrice and Benedick. We also made masks for the dance we learnt as part of the Masquerade Ball – Mrs Stonier kindly made me one too!
In Topic, we have been learning about Crime and Punishment through the ages and pupils have enjoyed creating their own Roman crime show in groups, deciding the relevant punishment for the criminal – Year 6 are a harsh group!
For Children’s Mental Health Week, we thought about our strengths and hopes and dreams for the future. We also learnt BSL to the song ‘This is me’ from the Greatest Showman.
In Science, pupils have enjoyed learning about light, shadows and refraction. We used different resources to create a shadow tent and show how light is refracted differently through the use of different prisms. Pupils also had the opportunity to make a shadow puppet theatre and put together a play using their characters.
Year 6 have also enjoyed having visitors in school to deliver workshops. Our first one was a Health and Safety workshop for pupils to understand the risks and safety around construction sites. The second workshop was delivered by Western Power; it was about safety around electrical items inside and outside of home. Both workshops were delivered through the use of role play and interaction.

Year 6 are very excited about their upcoming visit to Llandudno. This trip as well as being lots of fun will have a geography and history focus.
